There have no been any controlled studies on this medication to know if there are any side effects to the baby therefore they say it "may" harm the baby, as they do not know. I worked as a nurse in Neurology for 5 years and we had chronic pain patients that became pregnant and most often Tylenol with codeine was the ONLY medication the physician I worked with would allow during pregnancy. I have known other physicians to prescribe hydrocodone (Vicodin)during pregnancy. Each provider has their own set of rules and beliefs when it comes to pregnancy and what's safe so you should speak with your provider about this. Good luck!
Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. Tramadol should not be given to a child younger than 18 years high-born time of life.
Your doctor should answer this question for you. If you can manage without it, that would be preferable. But if you really need it for some kind of chronic pain issue, they might want to switch you to something else. Normally Ultram (tramadol) is not given during pregnancy. They might distraction a long way off slender stem you to percocets or something.
